21st century skills...

I had a bit more time to wander through the website Partnership for 21st Century Skills today and the amount of resources on the site is tremendous.  I found a neat part of the site this time.  It is the personal collection feature.  It allows you to save any resource that you find useful into your own personal list on their site.  You are able to review the resource and rate it and it helps others know if the site is relevant.
I found edutopia to be very interesting.  There is so much on the site.

  1. Susan, I also was overwhelmed with the amount of information and resources that I was able to find on the 21st Century Skills website. I felt that each page led me to another page with more information to read. Through one of the searches, I came across the Edutopia website, which I found to be useful too. I came across this article, "A Common Language Creates an Uncommon Bond: Students Learn to Speak Japanese" I watched the video and was very impressed by their language immersion program.I think it's important for students to learn a second language. Knowing how to communicate in a second language is an asset. I think we will see an increase of people knowing more than one language in the future.

  2. I am glad to see that I wasn't the only one who felt overwhelmed. I definitely had better luck the second and third time I visited the site. Now I'm overwhelmed for a different reason: so many good resources!

I found a great communication skills site that offers links to writing, grammar, and research guides. http://www.khake.com/page66.html

  3. Susan,

I could use your input on my new blog, since we both teach art. Where can I make improvements, and would your students be interested in participating in our blog? What could we do collaboratively to use more 21st century skills in our classrooms? I am middle school level, yet maybe there is some way we could benefit each other. Let me know your thoughts on the matter.

  4. Susan,
This site can be a maze. I must say that I haven't made it completely through. There are great resources available-it is the challenge of finding what you need or want to know. I will definately take a look at the professional collection feature. Thanks for the tip. It is nice to see relavant information when sifting through all of it.

  5. Thanks for sharing the professional collection feature, I didn't see that yet but it sounds like a feature that is worth checking out. Just like everyone else, I keep going back to the site and looking through it a little at a time. I think it is overwhelming because I am literally just looking through all of it kind of aimlesslessly, trying to see every section. I am sure that when there is something specific that I want to find resources for, it will be easier to use and take advantage of what the site has to offer.
